The Lord asks in Isaiah 1:12, “When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?” This question should bring us to a deeper understanding of our journey to temple attendance and should point us to the crux of temple worship. When we sit in our chapels and take the sacrament, why are we there? When we worship in the temple, why do we go? When we sacrifice in or out of the temple or houses of worship, who sent us there? Are we going because we have been asked to go by our leaders or because it is what we are “supposed” to do? Is it because everyone else is doing it? Or do we do it with real intent in our hearts, seeking that the Lord will respect and receive our offerings? The Lord sees through all our facades and directly into our heart.
